Caring for Your It's Scent Products
We are passionate about our products and want you to share our love for them when you receive your chosen It's Scent items. To help you get the most from your product while maintaining its high quality, please follow our safety and care guide.
How To Burn Your Candle
• Always burn your candle in a well-ventilated room, away from drafts, vents, and fans, as these can cause sooting (black marks on the vessel) or uneven burning. Never touch or move a burning candle when the wax is liquid.
• To prevent tunneling, burn the candle until the wax melts evenly to the edges. Extinguish the flame with a candle snuffer or the lid, and allow the wax to solidify before relighting.
• Burn regular-sized candles for 1.5 to 2 hours at a time. Burning for shorter periods may cause tunneling, while burning for over 4 hours can cause the wick to move or the vessel to overheat.
• Always place candles on a heat-resistant surface. Stop burning when 10mm of wax remains at the bottom to prevent overheating.
• Never leave a candle unattended. Keep away from children and pets (especially wagging tails).
How To Care For Wicks
• Trim the wick between uses when the wax is set, keeping it approx. 6mm (¼") in length. A long or crooked wick can cause high flames, smoking, or sooting.
• Keep the wax pool clear of debris like wick trimmings and matches, as these can act as a secondary wick.
• After extinguishing with a snuffer, center and straighten the wick to prevent slanting and ensure an even burn.
• Ensure the candle is fully extinguished before leaving the room. Wick dipping is the best method—use a wick dipper to submerge the flame into the melt pool, then raise it for the next use.
How To Store Your Candle
• Store in a cool, dry place, covering it with a lid to protect the wax from dust.
• If condensation forms on the candle, wipe it away with a paper towel before lighting.
• Use your candle within a reasonable time, as prolonged storage can affect its fragrance.
Did You Know?
‘Pull away’ is a term used to describe what looks like air bubbles in glass-vessel candles. After the hot wax has been poured and cools down, it slightly shrinks, causing a slight separation from the vessel wall. This gap is no larger than a hair, but the glass can magnify it, creating the illusion of an air bubble. Once you light your candle and it warms back up, these bubbles will start to disappear and will not affect your candle’s diffusion or lifespan.
Wax Melts & Burners
Wax melts provide an alternative to scented candles. The burner’s tea light heats the wax, releasing fragrance into the room.
• Positioning – Ensure a distance of 8-10cm between the tea light and wax cup.
• Safety – Place on a heat-resistant surface and never leave unattended.
• Placement – Keep away from curtains, furniture, and draughts.
• Children & Pets – Keep out of reach, especially from wagging tails!
• Usage – Use an It's Scent tea light in the same fragrance for enhanced scent diffusion.
Reed Diffuser
Instructions:
• Set up on a non-porous surface and wipe off any oil drips before placing on delicate surfaces.
• Remove the plastic plug, replace the cap, and insert the reeds.
• The reeds will naturally diffuse fragrance. For a stronger scent, flip the reeds occasionally.
• Flip reeds carefully over a protected surface, wiping any residual oil before placing the diffuser down.
• Replace reeds when changing oil to maintain efficiency.
Helpful Hints when using Reed Diffusers:
• More reeds = stronger scent; fewer reeds = lighter scent.
• Choose the right size – larger diffusers work better for big rooms.
• Change reeds regularly – they can clog with dust over time.
⚠️ Diffuser oils are flammable—keep away from flames and out of children's reach.
Please Remember:
• Diffusers should remain upright and untouched.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Do not ingest diffuser oils.
• Essential oils in diffusers are flammable—do not light and keep well away from an open flame.
• Diffuser oils can stain wood surfaces—always wipe clean the bottom of your bottle before setting it on any surface.
